News from the 2001 Rooster Extravaganza
The big weekend is over (it seems to go so fast) and we have news and some links to pictures. Group Picture Click here to see the group picture from the picnic. Here is a larger version. You can also see the group picture taken by Dick, K3ITH, with his digital camera. There's a small one and an larger one. Official Wrap-Up Here's the official wrap-up as prepared by K3ATO and WA3PPW. In addition, there were a lot of requests for the recipe for Donna's Cheese Mold. It's here too. Wrap-up: Acrobat (.pdf) format Rooster of the Year The ROTY is Merle, K2AOV, Rooster Number 75. Merle is as good a selection as there ever was. We're happy to see him get this recognition and join the board of advisors. Chief's Award This year's award went to Fred, WB2YTA, Rooster Number 780. Fred was recognized for his contacting and meeting other Roosters in the course of his work as an over-the-road truck driver. The Chief Rooster has designated Fred as our ambassador-at-large. 2-digit Roosters The Chief presented awards to all Roosters with 2-digit Rooster Numbers. Four of them were present: Luke - W2SGP (22), Hal - K3ATO (53), Merle - K2AOV (75), and Ruth - WA2GWA (93). Walt also noted that, in the early days, crowing-in was not a requirement. Jay, W3JAH, then assumed the solemn duty of getting these 4 crowed-in. It was pretty entertaining, but they all made it on the second try. Pictures Once again Dick, K3ITH, has made pictures of the events available here on the Web: Thursday night at the Doughtys' (Fred, W3PHL, and Bobbie, WB3EAO) Friday afternoon at the Sharrars' (Walt, WA3PPW, and Donna) Friday night at the Westover Country Club Saturday Rooster Picnic at Valley Forge
