Fergy Ferguson, WA3MME, now a silent key It is with sadness that we report that Fergy Ferguson, WA3MME, passed away on November 10, 2006. He had held Rooster #863 since May 1, 1993. Jay, W3JAH, sent us the obituary from the [Chester County] Daily Local News. James J. Ferguson Sr. of Downingtown James Joseph "Fergy' Ferguson Sr., 73, of Downingtown, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville. He was the husband of Joan Ann McCorkle Ferguson of Downingtown. Born Oct. 20, 1933, in Media, he was the son of the late Maurice and Mary Ann Ferguson. He was employed as a contractor by J. R. Williams Co. of West Chester for more than 30 years. Fergy was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and received a National Defence Service Medal. An avid amateur radio operator, he was known to everyone as WA3MME. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Jean Sylvester-Heybum of Wallingford, Katherine Ferguson of Cain, Penny Conlin of Boothwyn, Wendy Adams of Honey Brook and Mary Whisler of Wagontown; four sons, James J. Ferguson Jr. of Downingtown, Scott Ferguson of Waskom, Texas, Matthew Ferguson of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Nathan Ferguson of Downingtown; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jane Mozzoni of Boothwyn. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Private family services are being handled by the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home Inc., of Wagontown.
